Fig Frolic

Saturday, Aug. 24th 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. EDT

All fig lovers are invited, from the expert fig fanatic to the fignorant. We’re getting figgy with it.
Got a fig shirt or other ‘fig attire’? Let your fig-obsessed freak flag fly!

Planned activities include:

  • White Elephant – How it works: Each participant draws a number. The person who draws number 1 goes first and selects a fig tree. Number two goes next and so on. We hope everyone will be able to leave with a fig tree of their own. The only way this will work is if our veteran figgers bring extra trees to donate for this. Set air layers now. Make certain that the variety name and your name is attached to each tree you bring.
  • Fig Swap – If you have trees you want to swap, bring them with you. Make certain the variety name and your name is attached to each tree you bring. We will have a green tag for trees that are open to swap and red tags for trees that are not.
  • Education  - See the schedule below for topics, speakers, and time slots
  • Food – We will eat pizza at noon. (If you have a dietary restriction, include that in your RSVP email.) Got ripe figs to share? Bring them for others to taste.
  • Admission - Free, of course, but an RSVP is requested so we may plan for food, etc.

The location is under the shade trees at Ooltewah Nursery. At the time of this writing they have 10 varieties of fig trees in stock, and will give attendees a special event-only discount coupon! Come early and check out the 16 acre grounds. Wear cool comfy clothes and shoes, as you may want to walk around. Remeber, we trading or gifting trees, so no selling, please. This event is organized by Ian Matthes and Angel Miller, both members of OurFigs.com "We thank Ooltewah Nursery for hosting this event for the fig community," says Miller.

We are going to have a fig frolicking good time! We hope this event will be a fig hit. If you think this sounds like a figging fun time and want to join us, please RSVP by sending an email with your name and number of people to: angel@ooltewahnursery.com
